New for SS23. The idea came from when I was driving. The traffic light turned red and a woman passed in front of me. She was wearing a waist-length hooded blouson that was like a simple version of a mountain parka. It was still cold, so she put her hands in the hand warmer pockets of the blouson and passed by.
"A hooded blouson for spring seems convenient," I thought, but it would be no fun to make it as it is. I wondered what motif it could be, and remembered a waist-length shirt jacket commonly known as "M43," a vintage US military item.
I had an idea to move the pocket position lower and transplant the collar and hood familiar from the RAF PARKA, but it was difficult to make it into a shape. The pattern had an angle where the sleeves and the body were connected, and when I rolled the seam at the side, if I added the seam allowance according to the rules, it never matched up properly no matter how many times I tried! In the end, I adjusted the seam allowance by matching it to the actual product and sewed it together until it matched up perfectly.
The double-layered waist pocket, which I initially made with gussets, ended up being tight in some places, so I changed it to a different method.
For the cuff adjustment buttons, we initially used the same metal buttons as the front, but they made our wrists feel cold and uncomfortable. So we changed to resin buttons. After many twists and turns, we decided that this was OK, and the final sample was completed.
The material is ripstop cotton and Cordura nylon. It is a water-repellent and firm fabric. It is an updated material based on the original herringbone pattern.
The above is an excerpt from the WORKERS official website.
I tried wearing it on a rainy day. It held up perfectly in light rain.
