Officially known as "TROUSERS, MEN’S, COTTON, SATEEN," commonly called "Baker Pants."

The pattern was created by deconstructing and tracing the original MIL-T-838D (1958). The hem width is 24 cm. It has a loose silhouette with wide thighs and a deep rise.

It allows for airflow in summer and isn't restrictive when wearing leggings underneath in winter.

The fabric, back sateen, is a "coarse-grained back sateen used for baker pants" created by referencing the MIL-T-838D individual and MIL-C-10296J (fabric specifications). It has a soft feel.

Initially sulfur-dyed, it is now vat-dyed. The initial sulfur dyes were discontinued. Even after changing the type of sulfur dye, there was no longer a factory capable of performing mercerization (a process to flatten the surface with alkali) and sulfur dyeing consistently.

Performing "mercerization" and "dyeing" at separate factories is not practical due to cost and quality stability.

Therefore, we switched to "vat dyeing." With vat dyeing, there are integrated factories that can perform mercerization and dyeing. A characteristic of vat dyeing is that it fades less compared to sulfur dyeing. However, "whitening" occurs in areas that are rubbed. As seen in the back felled seams, there is a distinct, dramatic change.

With sulfur dyeing, the entire garment turns whitish, eventually becoming almost the same color overall, but with vat dyeing, there is a stark difference between rubbed and unrubbed areas.

While back sateen is about 10 oz, poplin is about 6.2 oz. After wearing jungle fatigues and mowing grass in summer, I thought, "Wouldn't baker pants made with this thickness of poplin be perfect for midsummer?" and brought it to fruition. However, the fabric thickness differs from back sateen, and the same sewing method doesn't work well. We made minor adjustments, such as changing the waistband lining from chain stitching to single stitching.

The products are pre-washed.
