There's always a secret zipper hidden on a hero's back.

But I think it's perfectly fine to have it boldly on the front.

Every time I travel, I find myself cramming more luggage than planned into my suitcase, and I'm repeatedly reminded of the amazing invention that zippers are.

For me, someone accustomed to button-fly jeans, if you ask if a zippered denim jacket dramatically increases convenience, I honestly don't really know.

Still, if there was a brand that entered the denim jacket market later in the 1950s, I imagine they would have loaded it with every possible feature to catch up with other companies. Thinking about it this way makes me feel a little affectionate towards it.

As I wrote in yesterday's blog, things are changing at a dizzying pace these days.

More and more products in the world are launching as alpha or beta versions and evolving from there.

Watching this trend, I wanted to create a garment with "Z" in its product number.

The "Z" in this case doesn't mean "final form." It just means it's a little more fully equipped.

Front zip.

Round buckles.

Action pleats.

And six elastic bands.

If the brand that released denim jackets in 1947 had been a latecomer, they surely would have followed suit with about this much equipment.

The front pleats are an interesting feature too.

Though they were said to be for size adjustment, they were actually fastened with round buckles and couldn't be adjusted. Yet, they remained.

Perhaps this was the first time that pleats were recognized as "design" rather than "specification."

What we've created this time is a jacket featuring 1950s-style front zip, round buckles, action pleats, and six elastic bands.

A fully equipped latecomer. The "Z" stands for Zipper.

The Rancher'z Jacket is now available.

*It can be worn as a set-up with the Working Cat Hero Jeans, made from the same fabric.

■Fabric

We've made right-hand twill Levi's and Cowboy-era Lee fabrics before, but this is TCB's first left-hand twill. We couldn't use our accumulated know-how, so we had to start from scratch. Although Wrangler is considered one of the three major brands, its history is surprisingly shorter than the other two; if we consider it under the Wrangler name, it's 75 years old.

I wondered if they were latecomers but still used raw denim, and while exploring, I found an interesting page in a vintage GIMMIE BOOK.

A child dressed as a cowboy says, "Mom says these jeans are Sanforized, so they're easy to wash." Honestly, based solely on vintage clothes, I hadn't been able to determine the finishing method of this fabric, but following the advice of the little cowboy, we've Sanforized it. It's 11.6oz with 9th count warp and 9th count weft.

The vintage 11MW model name also seems to derive from the use of 11oz fabric. Being left-hand twill, the twill lines stand out, and the slub length is long, so the fading occurs in lines rather than Levi's-style overall fading. While it has undergone Sanforization, we haven't included singeing or skewing, so it will twist like vintage denim. When you look at real vintage Wrangler, you can indeed see that twisting and vertical fading.

Spiral, who actually prefers this type of jacket over Levi's-style.

Of course, we've prepared a full range of sizes.

Although it's a very snug fit, the action pleats with six elastic bands ensure it's not uncomfortable.

Simply by wearing it, you'll achieve a natural inverted triangle silhouette that requires no muscle training.

Even though the model is different, please wear it effortlessly, like Cliff Booth in the movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

By the way, my favorite scene is "Cliff eating mac and cheese from a pan with his dog Brandy."
