Deluxe Tote, 3rd edition.

This time, the changes are the width of the handle attachment and the outer pocket.

The original Deluxe Tote comes in M and L sizes, with the M size having a narrow handle attachment (no outer pocket) and the L size having a wide handle attachment (with an outer pocket), which is a difference.

This time, as an arrangement, the body is M size, and the handle attachment position and outer pocket are the specifications of the original L size. In other words, the specifications were mixed.

Along with that, we also made two types of handles, short and long. If the original attachment width was narrow, it would be difficult to put your shoulder through no matter how long the handle was. With the wider handle attachment width, the long handle is now a very easy-to-use size.

There is one subtle but significant change from the previous version. The handle tape has changed from acrylic to cotton staple fiber (cotton rayon) power loom tape, which is thicker than ever before.

As usual, I "searched and searched" and found the manufacturer (surprisingly, in my neighborhood).

Until now, parts that I couldn't understand from accessory shops became clear. Even within the general term "tape," the texture varies considerably depending on the equipment and the thread.

With accessory shops, even if they say it's "the same," the loom is actually different. This tape is the most robust yet.

The "staple fiber" in "cotton staple fiber" is an abbreviation for "staple fiber," and it refers to "spun rayon" or "short-fiber rayon."

The size is 34cm width / 16cm depth / 31cm height. This is what is called an M size. The short handle is about 30cm, and the long handle is about 60cm.

For the handles, the same fabric as the bottom is sewn over the tape.
This is also done with a twin-needle sewing machine, folding both sides of the fabric while ensuring it sits in the middle of the tape.
Equipment is life! So, this time too, I went to a factory in Northern Kanto.
Of course, it's made in Japan.

Since I went three times, the president finally remembered my "face." He probably only vaguely remembers the brand name. But Production Manager Mr. M liked WORKERS bags so much that he bought one, so it's all good.

Being "remembered by the factory" is surprisingly important. There are things that cannot be fully explained in a specification sheet, such as the tension of the thread, the neatness or roughness of the finishing. Unless they can judge "this person would like this kind of craftsmanship," it won't turn out to be "this is it!!!"

At the sides, the fabric edges are folded and sewn in an alternating pattern. This forms the "bones" of the bag body, allowing it to stand on its own even when empty.

The main body is made of #4 canvas. In ounces, this is 20.8 oz.

The bottom and the parts on the tape are #11 canvas. In ounces, this is 12 oz.
The weight is approximately 600g.

With this tote bag, our intention is not to make it exactly the same as the original, but rather to "create something that approaches the original, and in some cases surpasses it, according to Japanese standards."

I believe the neatness of the stitching completely surpasses the original. As expected from a Japanese sewing factory.
The fabric weave is also beautiful. The tape is supple and easy to hold.

However, the original has its own charm in the roughness and toughness of its fabric and parts, and the "as long as it doesn't break" roughness of its sewing. That, in itself, is character.

Different countries, different finishes. Please enjoy the differences.

WORKERS Deluxe Tote

The WORKERS Deluxe Tote has been extremely popular since its highly anticipated release.

This model is a special specification that combines the traditional M-size body with the outer pocket and handle attachment position adopted for the L-size.

By widening the handle attachment, both short and long handles are now easier to carry on the shoulder, significantly improving practicality.

The main body uses #4 canvas, equivalent to 20.8oz.

The bottom part and handle reinforcement parts use #11 canvas, equivalent to 12oz, achieving high durability while maintaining a lightweight of approximately 600g.

The handle tape has also been updated from this time.

Instead of conventional acrylic tape, we have adopted cotton staple fiber (cotton rayon) tape woven on a power loom.

It is thick yet soft, with a texture that you can feel the difference the moment you hold it.

Furthermore, the side parts are constructed with the fabric edges folded and sewn in an alternating pattern, giving the bag itself a skeletal structure.

This allows it to stand on its own even when empty, contributing to its ease of use in daily life.

The beautiful stitch work is carefully crafted in a Japanese sewing factory.

This is a WORKERS masterpiece that retains the rugged charm of an American tote while being finished with Japan's unique high sewing technology and material selection.
