It must have been about five years ago, but I was staring at an early vintage Carhartt tag written in cursive, and I was trying to figure out how to read "Cathartt."

But if they were going to make them, the most important thing was that they could make heart-shaped change buttons. After being turned down by many button factories, they finally consulted a famous button collector, and the heart-shaped change buttons finally took shape, and they have continued to produce the Cathartt Chore JK to this day.

I later learned that heart-shaped buttons exist not only in change but also in hammered-in styles. This time, I created a design inspired by vintage Carhartt painter pants with a single-color tag from the 1930s. These pockets resemble mule ears, commonly known as "Mule Ear Pockets." This vintage design can be found not only in Carhartt, but also in Lee and Headlight.

The front pockets have a flap closure, and I thought that this style of painter pants would best show off the heart-shaped buttons. Of course, they're functional, too. The separate chino material also acts as a reinforcement, and may have been intended to make them less likely to tear even when tools and nails are frequently put in and taken out. Furthermore, the flap also serves as a "lid," and I think it was intended to prevent items from falling or getting caught. It's fascinating to see how this functional beauty of workwear is now sublimated into design.

I always make denim jackets and jeans sets, but I usually make coveralls as separate jackets. However, this time, I'm making a Cathartt series coverall. It's made with the same fabric as the Cathartt JK, so I hope you'll try wearing it as a suit. The warp threads are a no. 7 thread, with a subtle natural unevenness, and the weft threads are a thin no. 16 thread, with a slightly lower thread count.
By making the weft thinner than the warp threads, the unevenness of the warp threads is clearly visible, resulting in a fabric that has a clear vertical fading even with 10oz 2x1 denim.

The color is made from 100% synthetic indigo with no additives.
The number of dyeings has been reduced compared to XX DENIM from the 1920s, resulting in a brighter color.

The above is reprinted from the TCB official website

Maybe it's a little too cute, I thought, but it's a detail that caught my eye.

It is 10oz and has a light, relaxed silhouette that makes it easy to wear, making it recommended for women as well.

You can wear it just right to show off the heart buttons, or you can let the flap peek out from the bottom of your top.

Find your own way to enjoy it.
