The original “KEMONO KASURI” fabric is the star of this shirt.

G&F Co. “WORK SHIRT / KEMONO KASURI.”

This work shirt is made from G&F Co.’s original 8oz KEMONO KASURI fabric.

The base color is charcoal, with irregular pale streaks running vertically through the fabric.

From a distance, it looks like a subdued charcoal shirt. Get closer, however, and the uneven texture and distinctive streaking begin to reveal themselves.

It has a completely different character from a uniform chambray or heathered fabric.

The surface is also lightly brushed, giving the 8oz fabric a pleasantly substantial feel while remaining soft and slightly fluffy to the touch. Despite its rugged appearance, it feels surprisingly gentle against the skin.

The design itself is a straightforward work shirt with flap pockets on both sides of the chest.

A convertible collar allows the shirt to sit naturally with the top button open. Worn this way, as shown in the photos, it has a more relaxed character than a typical work shirt.

The buttons are cat-eye buttons made from pen shell, chosen in a subdued tone that blends naturally with the charcoal fabric. Look closely and you can see the individual character that comes from genuine shell.

It has all the right work-shirt details without looking overly rugged.

We especially like it tucked into a pair of beige chinos, as shown here.

Of course, it would look equally good with a well-faded pair of jeans.

It’s a work shirt, but one that makes you want to dress a little sharper.

What is “Kasuri”?

Kasuri is a traditional textile technique in which sections of the yarn are dyed before weaving, creating distinctive irregularities and blurred patterns in the finished fabric.

Rather than printing a design onto the surface, the pattern is created by weaving with yarns that have already been selectively dyed.

Because of this process, the lines and patterns do not appear perfectly uniform. They may shift, blur or seemingly disappear in places.

That irregularity is precisely what gives kasuri its character.

G&F Co. has taken this idea and created its own original fabric called “KEMONO KASURI.”

Irregular pale streaks emerge through the charcoal base, creating a distinctive appearance reminiscent of an animal’s coat.

The surface is then brushed, adding a subtle layer of fuzziness to the fabric itself.

It doesn’t just suggest “KEMONO” through the pattern — even the texture has something slightly animal-like about it.

It’s an unusual original fabric with plenty of G&F Co. character.

In-store try-ons are offered as a service to customers who are considering purchasing from our store.

Please refrain from trying on items solely for the purpose of size confirmation.

Items such as cut-and-sew garments, which are prone to stretching, cannot be tried on. Exchanges after trying on at home post-purchase are also not accepted.

Please also refrain from trying on belts, as they tend to stretch. For length confirmation, please bring a belt you are currently using.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.
