This time, a new color, Paw Stripe, will be added to the Carhartt Chore Coat, made with heart buttons. Mixing the heart stripe found in vintage Carhartt with the TCB-esque Cat's Paw, the finished garment is classic and cool. However, upon closer inspection, it also has a cute, dual nature to it.

The fabric was made by Sanyo Dyeing Co., Ltd. in my hometown of Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture. As a boy, I used to frequent a game center in the neighborhood, but I never knew there was a company with such interesting technology so close by.

After dyeing the fabric in indigo using a continuous dyeing machine, one of the few in Japan that can dye raw fabric indigo, the fabric is subjected to a process called dye-discharge printing, in which a discharge agent is applied using a cylinder to remove the color, and then a beige-colored print is applied.

By applying beige to the white heart pattern, the resulting heart has a slightly blurred outline.

You may find blurred edges on vintage wabash fabrics, but as these blocks are used, the corners and edges of the discharge print will become dull and eventually the block will need to be replaced.

This time, the wabash specially ordered by TCB might look a little flashy if the outline of the heart and paws is too clear. However, the slightly absent-minded expression is subtly designed from the beginning, so I hope you will find this to be a cool and cute point.

At first glance, it looks cheap, but it's actually a time-consuming process.

After making it and even touring the factory, I wondered if Stifel's fabric manufacturing method was too time-consuming and eventually disappeared. I am so grateful to Sanyo Dyeing that they are still able to produce it in the same way today. I was hesitant to print on the back of the fabric because of the cost, but in the end I was tempted and ended up with a cat instead of Boots. It doesn't matter once you've worn it, but it catches your eye every time you wear it. That may be one of the charms of this fabric.

*Stifel is the American textile company that developed Wabash fabric.

The back of the Stifel fabric features a boot-shaped pattern with the Stifel logo. Like the Denim, the details of the Chore Coat itself are based on Carhartt vintage pieces from the 1940s and 1950s, but with reference to various sources, the coat is reminiscent of the 1920s, with the MASTER CLOTH name and heart buttons, giving it a period feel.

For example, the details below are typical of the 1920s.

- Square collar with a split in the middle

- Eyelet-attached change button

-Adjustable first button and cuffs

- Set-in sleeves - Low sleeve cap, similar to the Two Cats Blouse

■Size

The sizing is different from that of a denim jacket, and the coverall is larger. If you choose the same size as a TCB denim jacket, it will be quite large.

■Notes

Both the front buttons and cufflinks are replaceable buttons. They are less durable than regular buttons, so we recommend removing them before washing. In the event of damage or loss, we have buttons in stock, but we will have to arrange for replacements at an additional cost. Thank you for your understanding.
