Collection: Spiral Dance

In 2017, SpiralDance started with the idea of "Let's try tanning it ourselves." What happens to the skin after it has been used in game dishes? Can it still be used?

The leather used in SpiralDance products is from deer and boars captured in Tenryu, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
The raw hides were provided by Thikusen, a restaurant in Futamata-cho, Tenryu Ward, the Sugi Hunters' Association in Haruno-cho, Tenryu Ward, and Jimito, a slaughterhouse.

Currently, we send the collected raw hides to tanners in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture and Iida City, Nagano Prefecture for tanning.
Unlike livestock or imported raw hides that can be tanned in large quantities, these are natural materials, vary in age, are a mix of males and females, have holes and scratches, and are made in small lots. There are few tanners who are willing to handle such raw hides, and we had a hard time finding tanners when we first started. Only recently have deer and boar leather finally started to gain recognition, but I feel it is still far from being widely known. I would be happy if many people could learn about the good qualities of these leathers.
