Some of you may know that when we start a new project at TCB, it often starts with an encounter with a vintage item. It can be something I used to look at through a glass window as a boy, something I've only seen in magazines, or a special vintage item worn by an actor on TV, and we start by acquiring it under the excuse of "recovering something I longed for in the past". Or, as with Viktors Voice, we borrow a special piece that you won't even find in a vintage store and start making it. And this time, I'll say it in advance. I started without finding the perfect source material for sampling. All I have is a heart button. And a pair of MASTER CLOTH overalls from that era. I started from there. The reason is simple. It's a jacket I've always wanted to make. I'd had the word Cathartt in mind for a few years. Of course, when I do that, it has to be a heart button! I took inspiration from vintage overalls for the MASTER CLOTH name. What was the basis for the CHORE COAT? I own two vintage Carhartt coats from the 1940s and 1950s. Based on the silhouette of the CHORE COAT, I have created a 1920s atmosphere by referring to various sources so that the MASTER CLOTH name, heart buttons, and historical accuracy match.
