What happens when you chop a vintage union suit in half? You get a coverall like this!

Introducing the TCB Jeans "Chopped Coverall 9.8oz."

One of the most sought-after vintage Lee pieces is the chinstrap coverall, affectionately known in Japan as the "Lee Chin."

For this jacket, TCB took inspiration from a vintage Lee UNION-ALLS, a one-piece work suit from what is believed to be the same era.

TCB's Inoue owns an original, and he noticed just how closely its upper half resembles the legendary Lee coverall.

That sparked an idea: Why not chop the UNION-ALLS off at the waist and turn it into a coverall?

And that's exactly where the name "Chopped" comes from.

The jacket features two different chest pockets, a distinctive chin strap, and slash pockets with separate pocket bags at the waist.

But the real surprise is on the back.

There's a large patch pocket you wouldn't normally expect to find on a coverall. It's a wonderful little reminder that the original garment was actually a one-piece work suit.

The fabric is TCB's original 9.8oz Jelt Denim.

Despite its relatively light weight, it has a satisfying firmness and structure. The combination of indigo warp yarns and beige weft yarns also gives it a beautifully muted, vintage-inspired color.

For the photos, we've paired it with a printed T-shirt and beige trousers.

There are plenty of unusual details here, but once you put it on, it feels surprisingly easy to wear. Think of it as a casual denim shirt jacket with a little extra character.

Rather than simply reproducing a vintage garment, TCB has taken an old construction and turned it into something new.

A playful piece that shows just how much fun vintage-inspired workwear can be.

And personally, I'm a big fan of that back pocket!

What Is Jelt Denim?

Jelt Denim is a type of denim historically associated with Lee workwear.

Its defining characteristic is the combination of relatively light weight and the durability needed for everyday work clothing.

TCB's original 9.8oz Jelt Denim was developed with that same idea in mind.

The warp uses specially spun, relatively fine yarns with long, pronounced irregularities.

For the weft, TCB selected neppy yarns dyed beige with sulfur-based dyes.

Unlike conventional denim, which often uses white weft yarns, the beige yarns blend with the indigo warp to create a deeper, slightly muted color with a distinctly vintage character.

The fabric is also woven at a high density, giving it a surprisingly firm hand and substantial structure for its 9.8oz weight.

Light enough to move comfortably in, yet sturdy enough to feel like proper workwear.

With wear and washing, the indigo will gradually fade, bringing out even more of the fabric's texture and character.

It's a denim that should only get more interesting with age.

In-store try-ons are offered as a service to customers who are considering purchasing from our store.

Please refrain from trying on items solely for the purpose of size confirmation.

Items such as cut-and-sew garments, which are prone to stretching, cannot be tried on. Exchanges after trying on at home post-purchase are also not accepted.

Please also refrain from trying on belts, as they tend to stretch. For length confirmation, please bring a belt you are currently using.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.
