SPIRAL COMMENT

Based on a work shirt from around 1913, this ORGUEIL piece is packed with the kind of classic details the brand does so well: a stand collar with chin strap, asymmetrical chest pockets, side gussets, and more.

The details are impressive, but so is the fabric.

The white cotton fabric is woven on a shuttle loom, coated with a vanilla-toned pigment, and then given a stone bio wash to create the dry, aged appearance of a shirt that has already seen years of wear.

The fabric itself is densely woven, and the pigment treatment gives it a noticeably firm, crisp hand.

What really gets us, though, is the combination of this substantial fabric with the fine-pitch stitching used throughout its classic construction.

The shallow arched back yoke—an early form that would later evolve into the familiar Western shirt yoke—also seems to us like a remarkable piece of three-dimensional pattern engineering for its time, combining freedom of movement with a distinctive visual element.

There is plenty to appreciate from the back as well.

Despite being based on a shirt from more than a century ago, it works surprisingly naturally as a simple everyday work shirt across three seasons.

Its dry, washed-in appearance looks right at home with workwear or military styles. Or, in true ORGUEIL fashion, button it all the way up and wear it as part of a classic three-piece look.

Wear it however you like.

What Creates This Distinctive Dry, Aged Color?

At first glance, the fabric may look like natural ecru cotton, but its distinctive color and texture are actually created through the finishing process.

The base is a white 100% cotton fabric woven slowly on a shuttle loom.

A vanilla-toned pigment is applied to the surface, followed by a stone bio wash.

Unlike dyes that penetrate into the fibers, pigment sits primarily on the surface of the fabric. The stone bio treatment then wears away portions of that pigment, creating subtle variations in color and the dry, uneven character of well-worn vintage workwear.

Please note: Due to the nature of this finishing process, some garments may show small black specks or variations in color. These are natural characteristics of the fabric and processing, and are not considered defects.

Although brand new, the shirt already has the character of something that has been worn for years.

With continued wear and washing, the fabric will develop even more character over time.

In-store try-ons are offered as a service to customers who are considering purchasing from our store.

Please refrain from trying on items solely for the purpose of size confirmation.

Items such as cut-and-sew garments, which are prone to stretching, cannot be tried on. Exchanges after trying on at home post-purchase are also not accepted.

Please also refrain from trying on belts, as they tend to stretch. For length confirmation, please bring a belt you are currently using.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.

No Forwarding Services

We do not ship to freight forwarding addresses.
