It was made based on a vintage pair of US Navy baker pants. (From now on, we'll refer to them as USN bakers for clarity.)

If you trace the original , the overall silhouette is very similar to the "Trousers, Cotton, Sateen" so-called Baker. However, there are also differences.

The so-called Baker has no darts and uses waist buttons to tighten the darts, but the USN Baker has darts on the back.
The front pockets are similar in shape, but the USN Baker is attached to the back. The obi part of a regular Baker is a continuation of the body and has a facing on the back, but the USN Baker has a separate part attached in the shape of a obi.
The back pocket of the USN Baker also has no flap, so although it looks similar, the specifications are slightly different.

However, the shape of the front pocket is very similar, and a deadstock item found in the past had the familiar US Navy military label attached, which is why it is called the "US Navy Baker."

The denim material is 10 oz. The weft thread has a brownish tint, giving it a dark overall appearance. This is a specification seen in old military denim, and it is unclear whether the weft thread was intentionally colored, or whether the thread was made from colored cotton and the color just got stained. However, when you look at old military denim, it is certainly dark overall. The muted color means that even slight stains are not noticeable. "Brown Back Denim" was created to imitate this fabric.

Back satin is a familiar fabric from Baker.

It was originally made about 15 years ago by someone at a fabric store, who used the original MIL-C-10296J specifications as a reference. The specifications included the weight of the fabric, the number of threads per inch, and the way the threads were crossed. The yarn used was carded, and I used sulfur dyes to dye the fabric.

Initially, it was a sulfur dye that faded extremely quickly, but when that dye was discontinued, it was replaced by a sulfur dye that does not fade easily.Furthermore, sulfur dyes themselves are now almost completely obsolete, and now it has been replaced by sulfur dye.

Sulfur dyeing is generally resistant to fading, but as the puckered areas rub against each other and the fabric wears down, the fabric becomes fuzzy and shading appears. The overall look does not turn out whitish, but rather creates a distinct shading effect.

The Vintage Fit is the same as the original, with a 25cm hem. The fabric doesn't cling to your legs, so it's cool. The Slim Fit is exactly the same around the waist as the Vintage Fit. It's narrower from the crotch down, giving it a line that can be called "Slim" for this style with a 20cm hem.

It looks like the hot days will continue for a while, so I'll probably be wearing baker pants more often than jeans.

Even if you already own one, you'll want another one. USN Baker.

This has a clean, slim silhouette.
