This year's border fabric is a little thinner.

Last year it was about 9 oz., but this year it's about 6 oz.

The yarn used for knitting is the same, but for the knitting needles, until last year we used "doubled" (two strands together), but this year's fabric uses one strand.

Last year, the fabric for TCB's custom order was made to these thinner specifications.

I'm a bit rigid, so I used to think, "Borders? Agnès B. and Saint James both use super heavy ounce fabric, so borders must be heavy ounce!" and always used thick fabric.

However, seeing Mr. Inoue from TCB wearing a short-sleeved border T-shirt in summer looking cool made me think, "That's nice~". And of course, at 6 oz., it's the thickness of a typical T-shirt. You can wear it as a single layer even in midsummer.

When considering colors, I thought, "It might be nice to have a tricolor with the neckband a different color from the body."

"Alright, time for market research!" I went to check out U from the world and M from Japan, but... there were no, no, no border T-shirts with a binder neck (ribbed). Most of them had "attached collars," meaning self-stitched + topstitched around the neck. Attached collars are easier to make so that "the head stretches, and it conforms to the neck." For binders, you have to consider the stretch and shrinkage of the fabric, draw a pattern for the neck, make a sample, draw another pattern, make another sample....

Over the past few years, WORKERS hasn't changed its fabrics as much, so the binder dimensions have become very stable, thanks to this "repeated sampling" (and also to the fabric manufacturers and sewing factories that produce fabrics with stable physical properties).

Since the market research was a bust, I ended up choosing colors entirely based on my personal preference, and this is what happened. There are too many colors!

My third-rate merchandising skills are showing again. My feelings take precedence over merchandising.

The labels are WORKERS' trademarks: cat patch & cat print label.

This year too, they are carefully made by Okada Name, our "father" in Okayama. Since the fabric is thinner, it's easier to use as an inner layer. In early spring, wear it under a G-jean or coverall.

My favorite way to wear it is to pair a long-sleeved T-shirt with a button-down or band-collar shirt, using the shirt like a jacket.

I think it would also go well with this season's swing top.

The above is reprinted from the official WORKERS website.

It's a thin, smooth, and comfortable fabric. A piece that will keep you looking cool even in midsummer. The long sleeves also protect you from the hot sun.
