TCB Jeans_Cathartt Chore Coat_Brown Paw Stripe

A new color, Paw Stripe, will be released for the Cathartt Chore Coat, which was created with heart buttons. This coat combines the heart stripe that existed in vintage Carhartt with TCB's signature "Cat's Paw," resulting in a classic and cool garment when viewed as a finished product, but also with a cute duality when examined closely.

The fabric for this coat was created by Sanyo Senko Co., Ltd. in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, my hometown. As a boy, I used to frequent the arcade in their neighborhood, but I had no idea that such a company with interesting technology was so close by.

The process involves indigo dyeing using a continuous dyeing machine, which is one of the few in Japan capable of dyeing fabric rolls with indigo. After that, a discharge printing technique called "chaku nuki print" is used, where a discharge agent is applied with a cylinder to remove the color, and then beige-colored discharge print is applied.

Because beige is applied to the white discharged heart pattern, the hearts have a slightly blurred outline.

While you can find vintage wabash fabrics with blurred outlines, over time, the edges and outlines of such printing plates become less sharp, and eventually, the plate needs to be replaced.

For the custom-made wabash fabric from TCB, if the outlines of the hearts and paws were too sharp, it might appear a bit too flashy. However, we've given it a subtly charming, slightly whimsical look from the start, and we hope you'll find this to be another cool and cute aspect of it.

At first glance, it may seem cheap, but it's a specification that takes a lot of effort.

After making it and even visiting the factory, I wondered if Stifel's fabric manufacturing method became obsolete because it was too labor-intensive. I am nothing but grateful to Sanyo Senko for being able to recreate it using the same method even now. Considering the cost, I hesitated to print on the back of the fabric, but in the end, I was so excited that there are cats instead of boots. It doesn't matter once you wear it, but you see it every time you put it on. Perhaps that's one of the charms of this fabric.

On the back of Stifel's fabric, there is a logo with the company name "Stifel" written inside a boot-shaped pattern. The details of the Chore Coat itself, like the Denim, are based on 1940-50s vintage Carhartt, but with reference to various historical materials, it's made to evoke the atmosphere of the 1920s to match the MASTER CLOTH name, heart buttons, and historical context.

For example, the following are details typical of the 1920s:

・Square collar with a seam in the center

・Change buttons attached with eyelets

・Adjustable first button and cuffs

・Low sleeve cap, also reproduced in TWO CATS BLOUSE, etc.

■Sizing

The sizing is different from denim jackets, with coveralls having a larger fit. Choosing the same size as your TCB denim jacket will result in a considerably larger fit.

■Notes

Both the front buttons and cuff buttons are change button specifications. Their durability is lower than regular buttons, so we recommend removing them when washing. In case of damage or loss, buttons are in stock, but please understand that they will be replaced at a cost.
