DELUXEWARE’s SRZ-01BD WIDE BORDER FULLZIP has arrived, made from heavyweight 17.5oz loopback fabric.

The first thing that catches the eye is the bold combination of heather grey and burgundy.

The stripes are a substantial 2 inches wide, but the heather grey keeps the overall look from becoming too loud, giving it a slightly nostalgic old-school sportswear feel.

The fabric is 17.5oz 100% cotton loopback, knitted on a sinker knitting machine in Wakayama City.

The heather grey and burgundy stripes are knitted directly into the fabric, with a loopback finish on the inside. At 17.5oz it sounds extremely heavy, but once you put it on, it doesn’t feel overly stiff or bulky. It simply has a reassuring amount of substance.

Compared with DELUXEWARE’s standard S101 series, it is considerably lighter, and because the inside is not brushed, it works much better as a layering piece and can be worn across a longer season.

The character of this hoodie also changes quite a bit depending on how you size it.

Wear it true to size or slightly fitted and the wide stripes look surprisingly sharp. Pairing it with slim trousers for a slightly rock-inspired look would be fun too.

Go up a size for a more relaxed fit, and the rounded silhouette combined with the wide stripes gives it a softer, almost playful feel.

Wear it simply with well-faded jeans, or throw a coverall over the top and let the stripes show through.

This is one of those hoodies where choosing the size is part of the fun.

Why doesn’t 17.5oz feel overly stiff?

The SRZ-01BD is made from 100% cotton loopback fabric, produced on a sinker knitting machine in Wakayama City.

Unlike woven fabric, sweatshirt fabric is knitted, giving it natural flexibility and softness even at a substantial 17.5oz weight.

The inside is also finished with unbrushed loops rather than a brushed fleece surface.

Those loops help trap air while maintaining flexibility, giving the fabric plenty of substance without preventing it from moving naturally with the body.

Another interesting detail is how the stripes themselves are made.

This is not a heather grey sweatshirt with burgundy stripes printed on afterward. The two colors are switched during the knitting process to create the approximately 2-inch-wide stripe pattern directly within the fabric.

The garment is sewn at DELUXEWARE’s own factory in Odate, Akita.

Vintage 1950s UNION SPECIAL FLAT SEAMER machinery is also used in its construction, making this a genuinely Japanese-made piece from fabric production through to sewing.

Please refrain from trying on items solely for the purpose of size confirmation.

Items such as cut-and-sew garments, which are prone to stretching, cannot be tried on. Exchanges after trying on at home post-purchase are also not accepted.

Please also refrain from trying on belts, as they tend to stretch. For length confirmation, please bring a belt you are currently using.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.
