Once again, as summer approaches, it's time for our annual production of painter shorts.

The base for these shorts is the double-knee type painter pants that loggers likely favored in the 1940s-50s.

TCB has modified these into shorts in our own way.
"Double knee in hot weather?"
Some of you might be thinking that.

Of course, the initial inspiration was simply how cool the unique stitching of the double knee looked. (laughs)
But when you actually wear them, you'll find it's surprisingly comfortable.

The fabric used this time is a 10oz denim with indigo rope-dyed #10 warp threads.
And for the weft threads, which touch the skin, we've used linen threads of European origin.

So, while they look like sturdy denim, when you wear them, the breeze passes through.
Linen's characteristic quick-drying property also makes them relatively comfortable even in mid-summer.

The shorts feature shades of indigo, a slightly brownish hue characteristic of linen,
and a subtle nep texture.
We hope you'll wear them diligently and enjoy watching them fade.

By the way, according to the weaver, linen is a truly finicky material,
and the threads tend to break easily when dry. That's why, during dry seasons,
they weave while humidifying the factory.

Honestly, even for me, Inoue, who wears pretty much the same thing 365 days a year, full-length pants in summer are just too hot. (laughs)

But I still want to wear denim, even when it's hot.

For people like me, we produce these shorts only once a year, like a summer tradition. It's like "Hiyashi Chuka has begun," or rather, "Painter Shorts have begun."

Thank you for your continued support.

Every year before summer, it's becoming a tradition for TCB to produce a new type of shorts, albeit in small batches. And this year, new shorts have been completed. Since creating Tabby's Workpants, a small painter pants boom has been underway within me, and these new shorts are also created with 50's painter pants as a reference.
