A little nostalgic, a little fancy. This is no ordinary work shirt.

The Yama-Poke Work Shirt from WORKERS has arrived!

This time, it's available in three different chambray fabrics, each with its own distinctive character.

The most eye-catching detail is the pair of asymmetrical chest pockets, particularly the mountain-shaped pocket known in Japan as the "Yama-Poke."

Originally designed to hold a pack of cigarettes, the pocket features extra depth and lowered edges on both sides, making it easier to reach in and grab what's inside.

It's a rather ingenious little design. In fact, the idea was so unique that it was actually patented back in the day!

It's details like these that make vintage workwear so fascinating, and WORKERS does a wonderful job of bringing them into clothes we can enjoy wearing today.

The silhouette is relaxed, with generous room through the chest and shoulders.

Size 15 measures approximately 60cm across the chest and 50cm across the shoulders.

Since traditional work shirts don't have pleats across the back, that extra room in the body and shoulders is important for comfortable movement.

All three fabrics are 5oz, 100% cotton chambray.

Indigo Chambray is a classic, slightly lighter shade of indigo blue. Simple, honest, and everything you'd expect from a traditional work shirt.

Smoky Chambray is made using top-dyed yarn, where the cotton fibers are dyed before spinning. This creates a subtle, wool-like mélange effect with a beautifully subdued appearance.

Blue Moku Chambray uses twisted mélange yarn in the weft, combining white and colored yarns into a single thread. The result is a distinctive blue with a depth and complexity that ordinary solid-colored yarns can't quite achieve.

All three are just the right weight for year-round wear.

And then there are those engraved WORKERS metal buttons on the chest pockets.

Finished by BUTTON WORKS with a special paint treatment inspired by vintage originals, they're another lovely little detail.

It's amazing how much character one small button can add!

Naturally, these shirts look great with jeans, but they're equally at home with chinos or military trousers.

Even though the design is the same, each fabric gives the shirt a completely different personality. Choosing just one might be the hardest part!

Vintage-inspired details, thoughtful construction, and an easygoing feel that makes them perfect for everyday wear.

The Yama-Poke: A Pocket Invented to Make Cigarettes Easier to Reach?

One of the most distinctive features found on certain vintage work shirts is the mountain-shaped chest pocket, known in Japan as the "Yama-Poke."

Its unusual shape wasn't simply a decorative choice. It was originally designed with a very practical purpose in mind.

The pocket has a gusset to accommodate a pack of cigarettes, while its lowered edges on either side make it easier to slip your fingers inside and retrieve the contents.

It might seem like a rather elaborate solution to a small everyday problem, but the idea was considered innovative enough to receive a patent!

Workwear has always been shaped by the practical needs of the people who wore it.

How can you carry the things you need while working? How can you make them easier to reach?

Simple questions like these led to some of the most interesting and recognizable details in vintage clothing.

And that's part of what makes the Yama-Poke so charming today.

Please refrain from trying on items solely for the purpose of size confirmation.

Items such as cut-and-sew garments, which are prone to stretching, cannot be tried on. Exchanges after trying on at home post-purchase are also not accepted.

Please also refrain from trying on belts, as they tend to stretch. For length confirmation, please bring a belt you are currently using.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.
