Deluxe Tote, 3rd edition.

The changes this time are the width of the handle attachment and the outer pocket.

The original Deluxe Tote comes in M and L sizes, with the M size having a narrower handle attachment (no outer pocket) and the L size having a wider attachment (with an outer pocket).

This time, as an arrangement, the body is M size, while the handle attachment position and outer pocket are the specifications of the original L size. In other words, the specifications have been blended.

Along with that, we also made two types of handles: short and long. With the original narrow attachment width, no matter how long the handle was, it was difficult to put it over the shoulder. With the wider handle attachment width, the long handle is now very easy to use.

There's one subtle change from the previous version. The handle tape has changed from acrylic to power-loomed cotton-staple fiber (cotton-rayon) tape, which is thicker than ever before.

As usual, we "searched and searched" and found the manufacturer (surprisingly, they're nearby).

What was unclear with accessory suppliers until now has become perfectly clear. Even if you simply say "tape," the feel changes considerably depending on the equipment and the type of yarn.

Even within the "same" range at accessory stores, the looms are actually different. This tape is the most robust we've ever used.

"Sufu" in "cotton-sufu" stands for "staple fiber," and it refers to "spun rayon" or "short-fiber rayon."

The dimensions are: width 34 / depth 16 / height 31. This is what we call M size. The short handle is about 30 cm, and the long handle is about 60 cm.

For the handles, the same fabric as the bottom is sewn over the tape.
Here too, a two-needle sewing machine is used to fold both sides of the fabric while centering it on the tape.
It's all about the equipment! So, this time too, I went to a factory in Northern Kanto.
Of course, it's made in Japan.

Since I've been there three times, the president finally remembers my "face." He probably only vaguely remembers the brand name. But Ms. M in production management liked WORKERS bags enough to buy one, so it's all good.

Being "remembered by the factory" is surprisingly important. There are things that can't be fully written in the specifications, such as the tension of the thread, the neatness or roughness of the finishing. Unless they can judge that "this person would like this kind of craftsmanship," the final product won't be that "this is it!!!" feeling.

For the side parts, the fabric edges are folded and sewn alternately. This forms the "bones" of the bag body, allowing it to stand on its own even when empty.

The main body is made of No. 4 canvas. In ounces, this is 20.8 oz.

The bottom and the parts on the tape are No. 11 canvas. In ounces, this is 12 oz.
The weight is about 600g.

For this tote bag, our goal is not to make it exactly the same as the original, but rather to "create something that approaches the original according to Japanese standards, and in some cases, even surpasses it."

I believe the neatness of the stitching completely surpasses the original. As expected from a Japanese sewing factory.
The fabric weave is also beautiful. The tape is flexible and easy to hold.

However, the original has its own charm with the rough and tough quality of its fabric and parts, and the "as long as it doesn't break" roughness of its sewing. That, too, is a unique character.

Different countries, different finishes. Please see the difference for yourself.

WORKERS Deluxe Tote

The WORKERS Deluxe Tote has been a huge hit since its long-awaited release.

This model is a special edition that combines the conventional M-size body with the outer pocket and handle attachment position adopted in the L-size.

By widening the handle attachment width, both the short and long handles are now easier to carry over the shoulder, significantly improving practicality.

The main body uses No. 4 canvas, equivalent to 20.8 oz.

No. 11 canvas, equivalent to 12 oz, is used for the bottom and handle reinforcement parts, achieving high durability while maintaining a lightweight feel of approximately 600g.

The handle tape has also been updated from this time.

Instead of conventional acrylic tape, we are now using power-loomed cotton-staple fiber (cotton-rayon) tape.

It is thick yet soft, with a texture whose difference you can feel the moment you grasp it.

Additionally, the side parts are constructed with the fabric edges folded and sewn alternately, giving the bag itself a skeletal structure.

This allows it to stand on its own even when empty, contributing to its ease of use in daily life.

The beautiful stitchwork is meticulously crafted at a Japanese sewing factory.

This is a true WORKERS masterpiece that retains the rugged charm of an American tote while incorporating Japan's high sewing technology and careful material selection.
