The actual product "turned out that way" because the spinning technology was immature, and this is what they're deliberately reproducing with multiple types of yarn and random weaving.
The silhouette is based on a work shirt, as the original Western shirt has a uniquely tight waist and very long length.
The length is perfectly designed so that it can be worn with the front tucked in or out, and it's not easily pulled up.
