The H.W.DOG&CO. WASH CAS has arrived at Spiral!

With its short brim and gently rounded crown, this cap has all the charm of a traditional newsboy cap, but with a more restrained shape that makes it easy to wear.

It's made from 100% wool, treated with a special refining process to give the fabric a soft, full texture. Despite its substantial appearance, the fabric is surprisingly lightweight, making the cap comfortable to wear through much of the year.

The finished cap is also given a wash, taking away some of that brand-new stiffness and giving it a relaxed, already-broken-in character.

The crown is constructed from eight individual panels, creating a naturally rounded, three-dimensional shape. Paired with the short brim, the proportions are just right.

We have three colors available: BURGUNDY, BLACK, and NAVY.

BURGUNDY is a deep, muted reddish-purple that adds a subtle splash of color to autumn and winter outfits.

BLACK is a versatile classic, with the soft wool texture giving it plenty of character.

NAVY feels a little lighter than black and looks especially good with denim and workwear.

Try it with jeans, a flannel shirt, a sweatshirt, or a coverall. It also looks great with a wool jacket or coat when you feel like dressing things up a little.

The cap comes in one adjustable size, fitting approximately 57–60 cm. A matching fabric strap and buckle at the back allow you to fine-tune the fit.

If you've always thought newsboy caps were a little difficult to pull off, this might be the one to change your mind.

What's the Difference Between a Flat Cap and a Newsboy Cap?

In Japan, the terms hunting cap and casquette are often used to describe two different styles of headwear, although the distinction isn't always clear-cut.

Generally speaking, a hunting cap refers to a flatter, more streamlined shape that sits close to the head, while a casquette has a fuller, more rounded crown.

In English, the flatter style is usually called a flat cap, while the rounder, eight-panel version is commonly known as a newsboy cap or eight-panel cap.

The newsboy cap takes its name from the newspaper-selling boys who wore them in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The style was also widely worn by working people as part of their everyday clothing.

The WASH CAS follows this traditional eight-panel construction, with each section sewn together to create a rounded crown.

However, its shorter brim and carefully controlled volume give it a slightly different character from the fuller, more exaggerated newsboy caps you might be familiar with.

It's a style with roots in classic workwear and everyday clothing, yet one that still feels completely at home with what we wear today.

That's part of what makes these old hat designs so appealing.

Items such as cut-and-sew garments, which are prone to stretching, cannot be tried on. Exchanges after trying on at home post-purchase are also not accepted.

Please also refrain from trying on belts, as they tend to stretch. For length confirmation, please bring a belt you are currently using.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.
