The pine leaf pattern is a redesign of an actual pattern found on a vintage 1950s aloha shirt.
Due to the resort boom at the time, the Matson Line, a shipping route from San Francisco to Hawaii, became more active, and tropical designs became more widespread.
There are many pineapple design patterns that seem to reflect this trend.
In particular, Deluxe Wear has redesigned the rare pine leaf pattern to create a clean and tidy image.
Also, the Fujiet material, made from 100% rayon and reminiscent of that time, is made by weaving filament rayon as the warp and suffrayon as the weft.
This authentic aloha shirt is made using the texture of this fabric, the pine leaf design, and a manufacturing technique called ground dyeing and discharge printing (a traditional manufacturing process in which the fabric is dyed, the pattern is bleached and colored, and then steamed to bring out the color).
It goes without saying that faithfully carrying out the base dyeing and discharge printing process will have a major impact on the appearance of the shirt as it ages. Please take a look at our aloha shirts that you can enjoy for many years to come.
The above is an excerpt from the DELUXEWARE website.
Deluxe Wear's Hawaiian shirts have perfectly matched patterns, so much so that it's hard to tell whether they even have a chest pocket or not.
It looks like this summer will be another hot one where Hawaiian shirts will shine.
