For the first time in a while, baker shorts. The waist area is exactly the same as the full-length version.
I rarely wear shorts anymore, but I see them often in summer. I thought, "If only there were shorts with the same specifications as the full-length pants...", so I made them.

Below, I will also include an explanation of the full-length version.

Official name: "TROUSERS, MEN'S, COTTON, SATEEN", commonly known as "Baker Pants".

The pattern was deconstructed and traced from the original MIL-T-838D (1958). Hem width is 24 cm. A relaxed silhouette with wide thighs and a deep rise.

Allows for air circulation in summer and doesn't feel tight when wearing leggings underneath in winter.

The fabric, back satin, was created by referencing MIL-T-838D samples and MIL-C-10296J (fabric specs) to make "coarse-weave back satin used for baker pants". It has a supple feel.

Initially sulfur-dyed, now vat-dyed. The initial sulfur dye was discontinued. Although we changed the type of sulfur dye, there were no longer any factories that could consistently perform both the "mercerized" (process of flattening the surface with alkali) and sulfur dyeing steps.

Having "mercerized" and "dyeing" done at separate factories is not practical for cost and quality stability.

Therefore, we switched to "vat dyeing". With vat dyeing, there are integrated factories that can handle both mercerization and dyeing. A characteristic of vat dyeing is that there is less color fading compared to sulfur dyeing. However, "whitening" does occur in areas that rub. As you can see from the lapped seam on the back, the change is striking and distinct.

Sulfur dyeing results in the whole garment becoming whitish, eventually becoming a similar color overall, but vat dyeing shows a stark difference between rubbed and un-rubbed areas.

While back satin is about 10 oz, poplin is about 6.2 oz. I made these after wearing jungle fatigues for mowing in summer and thinking, "If I make baker pants from poplin of this thickness, they'd be perfect for midsummer!" However, the fabric thickness is different from back satin, so it's difficult to sew them properly with the same sewing method. We made minor adjustments, such as changing the waistband from a chain stitch to a single stitch.

The product has been pre-washed.

After declaring "I won't make shorts anymore because the labor costs are too high!"... it doesn't seem like much time has passed, but the baker pants shorts are back!

It must be that with the increasingly hot summers these days, cool shorts are an essential item.

This season, two types are being released: one using 10oz back satin and another using a thinner 6.2oz poplin. This page features the 6.2oz cotton poplin fabric version.

Highly-dense woven cotton poplin is lightweight yet firm due to its tight weave, combining lightness with durability.
As it's washed, it becomes softer, and age-related changes like puckering and fading are also part of its appeal.

They are about knee-length, so if they are too long, you might consider folding them up slightly.

The product has been washed.

Hemming Service / 裾上げについて

Hemming is available free of charge for pants purchased from our store. We use thread that is as close as possible to the original in color and thickness, and finish the hem using the same sewing method as the original garment: chain stitch for chain-stitched hems and lockstitch for lockstitched hems.
当店でお買い上げいただいたパンツの裾上げは、無料で承っております。できる限り製品のオリジナルに近い色・太さの糸を使用し、もともとの縫製仕様に合わせて、チェーンステッチ仕上げの商品はチェーンステッチ、平縫い仕上げの商品は平縫いにて仕上げます。

If you would like hemming, please measure along the inseam from the crotch seam to the hem and let us know your desired inseam length in centimeters.
裾上げをご希望の場合は、インシーム（股下の縫い合わせ部分）に沿って、股の付け根から裾までの長さを測り、ご希望の股下寸法をcmでお知らせください。

Most of the pants we carry are made from fabrics that have not undergone preshrinking or similar treatments, with an emphasis on preserving the natural character of the fabric and garment. As a result, slight differences between the left and right sides, as well as variations of a few millimeters, may occur due to the characteristics of the fabric, sewing, and washing.

We will finish the hem as closely as possible to your requested measurement; however, we cannot guarantee precision to the millimeter. If you require an extremely precise finished length, we recommend having the alteration performed by a specialist who can measure the garment in person.

In-store try-ons are offered as a service to customers who are considering purchasing from our store.

Please refrain from trying on items solely for the purpose of size confirmation.

Items such as cut-and-sew garments, which are prone to stretching, cannot be tried on. Exchanges after trying on at home post-purchase are also not accepted.

Please also refrain from trying on belts, as they tend to stretch. For length confirmation, please bring a belt you are currently using.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.
