It's been about five years now, hasn't it? As I gazed at the early cursive tag of a vintage Carhartt, I kept thinking, "This could be read as 'Cathartt'..."

But if I was going to make something, the absolute prerequisite was to be able to make heart-shaped change buttons. After being rejected by many button factories, I finally consulted a famous button collector, and as a result, the heart-shaped change buttons finally took shape, leading to the Cathartt Chore JK that exists today.

In the midst of all this, I later learned that heart-shaped buttons also existed in a fixed-attachment type, not just the change button type. This time, we created a version inspired by vintage 1930s Carhartt single-color tag painter pants. The pockets, commonly known as "Mule Ear Pockets," are shaped like the ears of a mule. This design can be seen not only on Carhartt but also on Lee and Headlight vintage items.

The reason I thought this style would best highlight the heart-shaped buttons among painter pants was because the front pockets are flapped and closable. Of course, they are also functional. The chino fabric sections of a different material also serve as reinforcement, perhaps to prevent tearing when tools or nails are frequently put in and taken out. Furthermore, the flap also had the meaning of a "lid," and I believe it was intended to prevent items from falling out or getting caught. It's fascinating how the functional beauty of such workwear is now elevated to a design, isn't it?

I always make denim jacket and jeans sets, but for coveralls, I often made the jacket as a standalone piece. However, this time it's the Cathartt series. It comes as a set with the same fabric as the Cathartt JK, so I hope you'll try wearing it like a suit. The warp yarn is a size 7 with a natural unevenness that isn't overly contrived, while the weft yarn is a thinner size 16, and the number of weft threads per inch has been slightly reduced.
By making the weft thinner than the warp, the unevenness of the warp yarn comes out clearly, resulting in a fabric that shows vertical fading well, even though it's 10oz 2x1 denim.

For the color, we intentionally used 100% synthetic indigo without any blends.
The number of dyeing cycles is also less compared to 1920s XX DENIM, so the color is lighter.

The above is reprinted from TCB official.

It might be a bit too cute, but the details are intriguing.

With a light and loose 10oz silhouette that's easy to wear, it's also recommended for women.

You can wear them just right to show off the heart buttons. Or you can let the flap peek out from under the hem of your top.

Please find your own way to enjoy them.
