The ORGUEIL Grandpa Shirt OR-5132 has arrived at Spiral.

Inspired by the work shirts worn by American farmers and laborers in the early 1900s, this shirt features a simple band collar and a beautifully understated design.

The natural-colored fabric features subtle dobby-woven stripes, with a brushed finish that gives it a wonderfully soft, warm feel.

Made from 99% cotton and 1% polyurethane.

One of its most interesting details is the front placket.

At first glance, it looks like an old-fashioned pullover shirt, but it actually buttons all the way down for easy dressing. A small tab midway down the front recalls the half-placket construction of early work shirts.

There's a simple patch pocket on the left chest, too.

And the more closely you look, the more there is to appreciate: the collar construction, the distinctive front placket, the diagonally arranged stripes across the back yoke, and the pleats at the back that add comfort and ease of movement.

It's full of those thoughtful little details that make ORGUEIL shirts so appealing.

Wear it with jeans or chinos for a slightly more refined everyday look.

The narrow stripes also make it an excellent choice under a jacket or vest.

I can imagine it looking particularly good with suspenders, too!

The Grandpa Shirt and Its Pullover Origins

When you hear the term "grandpa shirt," you might picture a long shirt with buttons that only extend partway down the front.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, pullover shirts were common. Shirts often served as undergarments as well as everyday clothing, which explains details such as longer hems, simple collars, and shorter front openings.

That shorter opening is known as a half placket.

A placket is the section of a shirt where the buttons and buttonholes are placed. Unlike a modern button-front shirt, a half-placket shirt opens only at the upper chest and is pulled on over the head.

ORGUEIL takes inspiration from this traditional construction while making the shirt more practical for everyday wear.

It retains the visual character of an old pullover shirt but features a full button opening, combining vintage charm with modern convenience.

In-store try-ons are offered as a service to customers who are considering purchasing from our store.

Please refrain from trying on items solely for the purpose of size confirmation.

Items such as cut-and-sew garments, which are prone to stretching, cannot be tried on. Exchanges after trying on at home post-purchase are also not accepted.

Please also refrain from trying on belts, as they tend to stretch. For length confirmation, please bring a belt you are currently using.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.

No Forwarding Services

We do not ship to freight forwarding addresses.

Please note that if the shipping address provided is identified as a freight forwarder after an order has been placed, your order will be cancelled.
