Gladiator Sandal / Black
A structure seen in ancient footwear, designed to bind, wrap, and propel the foot forward.
AYAH is a leather sandal reinterpreted by layering the concepts of Japanese waraji, ancient Roman caligae, and military-derived gladiator shoes.
Despite differences in culture and era, the rationality of keeping the foot close to the ground and lightening the body remains constant. AYAH incorporates this universal structure into modern life.
The sandal features a generously sized footbed and an intentionally asymmetrical outline. This slightly uneven form creates a unique presence where ruggedness and elegance coexist. The design, with its intentional space, adapts naturally to various foot widths and provides a comfortable fit that reduces stress during long periods of walking.
Cushioning is built into various parts that come into contact with the foot. For the thong part, a construction where the inside of the bag stitching is turned outwards is adopted, designing it so that the seams do not directly touch the foot. This enhances comfort while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic.
The BLACK version luxuriously uses TOSCANO leather from the Tuscany region of Italy. This leather, rich in oil, softens with wear, developing a deep luster and rich patination. It gracefully conforms to the shape of the foot, allowing the inherent character of the leather to become more pronounced with continued use.
A sponge is incorporated into the footbed, achieving a wearing experience unique to "growing leather" that molds to the foot over time. The ankle strap is detachable, allowing you to change its look to match your styling or mood.
The sole features a Vibram sole. It also supports resoling, allowing for a long-term relationship with the sandals as they are worn and broken in.
AYAH is a pair that combines the structural beauty of footwear from antiquity with modern functionality.
It is a sandal that embodies LA POCHE's philosophy of evolving towards completion with wear.

The highly anticipated new sandals from LA POCHE have arrived.
LA POCHE's designs are not overly sweet, which I think is perfect for the women who visit Spiral.
These sandals can be worn by those with wider feet, and you can also wear them casually like flip-flops without the strap.
The design is suitable for men as well, if the size fits.
A common concern with this type of sandal is discomfort between the toes, but the thong is designed to go vertically and apply tension towards the sides, preventing discomfort.
I believe a wider range of customers will enjoy them.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.
