To be honest, I have hardly ever worn third-party clothes in my life. I have had some larger sizes, like size 42, but they were always too tight. Looking closely, I noticed that they were tapered towards the waist, yet still had large shoulders, and the unique patterning didn't suit me. (They seem to suit a muscular American build.)
However, I recently got hold of a pair of corduroy thirds from the 90s, probably made in Valencia, and tried them on...they're not bad. They don't have the intense waistband that's so characteristic of thirds.
Furthermore, I happened to be looking at my favorite artist, Dr. John's, account on Instagram, and I saw him wearing a pair of jeans in a portrait taken by Bruce Weber. It was in black and white so I couldn't tell the color, but it looked like black denim. This made me want to make one myself.
But the problem was the silhouette. I didn't like the extremely tight waistband. That's when I realized the 806 First. I took the silhouette of the First, which has no tightness, and applied only the fabric switching design of the Third... and that's how I created it. When I saw the finished product, the silhouette was almost exactly the same as the First.
The shoulders are slightly wider than the first shirt. This is due to the direction of the yoke fabric in the shoulder area. The first shirt uses the fabric horizontally, while the third shirt uses it vertically. The shrinkage rate of the fabric is different vertically and horizontally, so the shoulders are a little wider, but the third shirt also has a slightly droopy shoulder in Dr. John's portrait. I'll leave it as it is.
The fabric is 13.7 oz., a WORKERS classic, made with specially ordered indigo denim. The black is made by dyeing the vertical threads all the way to the core of the thread. As a result, the color fades to a grayish hue, but without any whiskers. Since it doesn't fade too much, you can wear it any time of the day, even after the color fades.
The fabric is third-grade, but it's unshrunk and unbleached selvedge. Therefore, even though it's third-grade, there are selvedge edges on the front and the overall design is twisted. The product is tumble-dried and shrunk as much as possible before shipping.
The above is an excerpt from the WORKERS website.
A WORKERS-esque, easy-to-wear third-person shirt.
The fabric is soft and comfortable. However, it is not flimsy, and you can clearly feel the texture of the yarn.
This is a denim jacket that you won't get tired of wearing.
