It's a very thick 10 ounce fabric.
It is a blend of Egyptian Giza extra long staple cotton and Pima regular cotton. When knitting something like a T-shirt with a single thread (single yarn), a phenomenon called "skew" occurs, where the yarn twists diagonally in the direction of twist.
This phenomenon is unacceptable with borders, so we use a double-ply yarn in which the twist direction of each thread is reversed when twisting two threads together.
The knitted fabric is dipped in an alkaline liquid and mercerized to make the surface smooth. The fabric is sturdy and does not easily lose its shape, and because the surface is smooth, it does not get caught even when wearing a jacket over it.
This is a football type with a plain collar.
