The characteristic of this fabric is the unique uneven texture created on the surface by using slub yarn for all the weft threads. Although the fabric is lightweight at 8.8oz, the thicker parts of the slub yarn create a sense of volume. Combined with the warmth provided by the brushing process, it's a valuable item for layering in colder seasons. The check pattern is simple and small, composed of muted colors.

Spiral Comment

It looks like a solid flannel shirt, but it's surprisingly light when you wear it.

That's my first impression of the UES Slub Flannel Shirt.

Although it's a relatively light fabric for a flannel shirt at 8.8oz, as you can see in the photos, the fabric surface has a plump, three-dimensional feel.

It's interesting how the texture is created by variations in the thickness of the yarn itself, rather than by using a thick, heavy fabric to achieve volume.

When you touch it, the surface has a fine unevenness, and the added brushing gives it a soft feel.

Since there's no brushing on the inside, it feels surprisingly smooth when worn as a single layer in early autumn.

As it gets colder, you can wear it over a T-shirt or thermal top.

In winter, it's also useful as an inner layer under denim jackets, coveralls, or down vests.

The BLUE features a slightly muted blue base with off-white and mustard-colored lines.

It's a classic American casual color scheme, but the overall tone is subdued, so it doesn't look too flashy. It would undoubtedly pair well with faded denim or beige chinos.

The GREEN has a deep green base with off-white and yellow-colored lines.

This one has a slightly more classic feel than the blue. It would likely go well with brown pants, off-white bottoms, or dark indigo denim.

The chest pocket is cut on the bias, creating a subtle accent within the same fabric.

Although it's a patterned item, the checks themselves are fine and the colors are subdued, making it surprisingly easy to coordinate.

It's a bit different from the so-called "extra-thick heavy flannel."

You want the warmth and presence of flannel, but you're not a fan of shirts that are too heavy.

This is a shirt I'd recommend to such people.

"Slub Yarn" that creates the fabric's texture

A major feature of this fabric is the use of slub yarn for all the weft threads.

Slub yarn is a non-uniform thread with intentionally created thick and thin sections within a single strand.

Compared to fabrics woven with uniform threads, it creates natural irregularities on the surface, resulting in a rich texture that isn't too flat.

While this fabric is relatively lightweight at 8.8oz, the thicker parts of the slub yarn give the fabric a plump, voluminous feel.

Furthermore, the brushing process on the surface makes it easier to trap air, adding a soft feel and warmth.

This flannel fabric achieves both lightness and volume through the shape of the yarn and brushing, rather than simply making the fabric thicker for warmth.

For leather boots and sandals, try-ons are also offered on the premise of purchase. Please try them on during the final confirmation stage. When trying on, please be careful not to cause wrinkles. Please be sure to bring your own socks.
