Lot 801 is a classic straight-leg jean. It might look a little rustic, but that's precisely what authentic jeans are all about.

The denim is made from American Upland cotton for both the warp and weft. We started with the simple idea that "a basic pair of jeans should be woven from yarn made solely of American cotton!" But then we discovered there was no standard 100% American cotton yarn available! So, we decided to create the yarn ourselves! (Though it requires an incredible amount)

Upland cotton is a very basic cotton. We import it into Japan, scan the slub yarn shape seen in vintage jeans, and determine the yarn's structure. We also control the slub so it's not too strong.

The finished yarn undergoes rope dyeing. This is a pure indigo dye without any pre-dyeing or post-dyeing. A characteristic of this color is its relatively strong blue hue with less redness.

Furthermore, the fabric is woven on a power loom with selvedge. By weaving with low tension, the fabric achieves a plump texture, ensuring the inherent character of the yarn and cotton is preserved. The finished fabric is raw denim, meaning it hasn't undergone sanforization or singeing to remove fluff. It will shrink and twist when washed. However, before shipping, it is one-washed and tumble-dried to shrink it as much as possible.

There are two patterns: the straight-leg Lot 801 and the slim-tapered Lot 802.

The hem width remains the same for approximately 10 centimeters from the hem, so even if you hem them up to about a 30-inch inseam, the hem width won't change.

All stitching is done with cotton thread. Heavy-gauge thread is used for the side seams, the "komata" (the inner seam joining the left and right body panels), the yoke, and the waistband attachment. This specification is designed to provide strength with cotton thread, and as a result, it creates the bumpy selvedge appearance and strong puckering on the yoke.

When creating this denim and jeans from scratch, our focus was on being "basic." To achieve a classic feel, there are methods that involve blending cotton from other regions like Peru or India, besides American cotton. For indigo dyeing, there are also ways to create different shades without pure indigo pre-dyeing. However, we chose not to do any of that, and instead, we stuck to American cotton and pure indigo. As a result, the finished color has a strong blue hue, exactly as I envisioned.

The process, from raw cotton harvesting to yarn spinning, followed by rope dyeing, weaving, and sewing, is introduced below:

End of excerpt from the official manufacturer's information.

Lot 801 represents WORKERS' idea of "basic jeans."

With a straight silhouette that isn't influenced by trends, they have a slightly rustic feel, which is precisely the inherent charm of jeans.

The fabric used is an original 13.75oz selvedge denim made from 100% American Upland cotton.

In search of a standard 100% American cotton yarn, which is surprisingly scarce these days, WORKERS painstakingly created this denim from scratch, from the raw cotton to spinning, rope dyeing, and weaving.

The dyeing is pure indigo without any pre-dyeing.

The clear, strong blue hue evokes vintage denim while possessing WORKERS' unique character.

The weaving is low-tension, done on a power loom with selvedge.

It features the natural unevenness and rich texture characteristic of raw denim, as it hasn't undergone sanforization or singeing.

Cotton thread is used for all stitching.

Heavy-gauge cotton thread is used for various parts such as the side seams, the inner leg seam, the yoke, and the waistband, creating attractive puckering and three-dimensional fading as they are worn.

No special treatment.

That's why they can be worn for a long time.

This pair embodies WORKERS' concept of the "origin of jeans."
