A new color, Paw Stripe, will be released for the Cathartt Chore Coat created with heart buttons.

This Chore Coat is a mix of the heart stripe from vintage Carhartt and the TCB-ness of a cat's paw. It looks classic and cool, but if you look closely, it's also cute.

The fabric was created by Sanyo Senko Co., Ltd. in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, my hometown. As a boy, I used to go to the arcade nearby, but I had no idea that there was a company with such interesting technology so close by.

The process involves indigo dyeing using a continuous dyeing machine, one of the few in Japan capable of dyeing fabric rolls with indigo, then discharge printing. This involves applying a discharge agent with a cylinder to remove the color, and then printing by seeping in a beige color.

To apply beige to the white discharged heart pattern, the hearts are created with a slightly blurred outline.

You can sometimes see wabash with blurred outlines in vintage wabash fabrics, but as these plates are used, the corners and outlines of the discharge print become less sharp, and eventually, the plates need to be replaced.

The wabash that TCB specially ordered this time might be a bit too flashy if the outlines of the hearts and paws are too sharp. However, we've given it a subtly whimsical look from the start, so we hope you'll find this a cool and cute point too.

At first glance, it looks cheap, but it's a specification that takes a lot of effort.

After making it and even visiting the factory, I wondered if the way Stifel Co. made their fabric ultimately disappeared because it was too much trouble. I'm nothing but grateful to Sanyo Senko for being able to recreate it using the same method today. Considering the cost, I hesitated to print on the back of the fabric, but in the end, I couldn't resist, and there's a cat instead of a boot. It doesn't matter once you wear it, but you see it every time you put it on. Perhaps that's one of the charms of this fabric.

*Stifel Co. was an American textile company that developed wabash fabric.

On the back of Stifel's fabric, there is a logo with the company name "Stifel" written inside a boot-shaped pattern. The details of the Chore Coat itself, like the Denim, are based on vintage Carhartt from the 1940-50s, but with reference to various materials, it is made in the atmosphere of the 1920s so that the MASTER CLOTH name, heart buttons, and historical context align.

For example, the following are details typical of the 1920s:

・Square collar with a seam in the center

・Change buttons attached with eyelets

・Adjustable first button and cuffs

・Low sleeve cap, reproduced in TWO CATS BLOUSE, etc.

■Sizing

The sizing is different from denim jackets; the coverall sizing is larger. If you choose the same size as a TCB denim jacket, it will be a considerably larger size.

■Notes

Both the front buttons and cuff buttons are change button specifications. They are less durable than regular buttons, so we recommend removing the buttons when washing. In case of damage or loss, we do have buttons in stock, but they will be provided at a charge, so please understand.
