The original source is Super PAYDAY's railroad jacket.
Buttons, labels, etc. state 8 oz. sanforized shrunk.
The "PAYDAY" trademark was registered in 1922. Sanford Cluett obtained a patent for sanforized (shrink-proof) fabric in the early 1930s. Based on these assumptions, we can assume that this piece was made in the mid to late 1930s.
If I had to say, I think the pattern was well done. The top edge of the center front falls to the side. It is forced together with buttons, so wrinkles appear around the chest. The pattern is manipulated to create a three-dimensional effect around the chest, but because the three-dimensional effect is not created with darts, unique wrinkles appear.
This is probably a remnant of the drafting method that was popular in the early 1900s. It's often overlooked because of the flashy buttons and designs, but I think it's this unique shape that gives the jacket its "personality."
Specifications: cuffs on the outside of the sleeves. Triple stitching between parts. Different sizes of engraved buttons on the front and sleeves, stand collar, combination pockets. This is the most luxurious and flashy railroad jacket. It was a time when design and specifications had reached their limits.
The materials are 10 oz denim, white denim, and hickory. I was worried about how to incorporate the 8 motif of the original "8 oz". Initially, I tried to design it with 10 oz, but I really wanted to include the number 8. Then I remembered my cats. I have 8 big cats roaming around.
The above is reprinted from the WORKERS catalog.
When you try it on, it feels quite loose. Rather than a cool railroad jacket, this is recommended for those who want to wear a new, old-fashioned railroad jacket instead of a used one!
Please enjoy Mr. Tateno's love for cats and coveralls, which can be seen throughout the book.
